I think it's time for some illegal street racing to settle this once and for all.

mike is too scared to race me, his excuse is "my rear bearing is shot". Sissy.

Jami I bet you would own mike in a race even if you didnt shift out of 2nd.

I'm pretty sure the only close race would be between me and Karol.  Here's the numbers:

Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
2.4L Inline 4
162hp
162lb. ft of torque
1325kg

BMW 325i
2.5L Inline 6
179hp
176lb. ft of torque
1283kg

So stock mine has the advantage... more power, less weight.

But then we gotta take into account modding.  I've added an intake, engine chip, and free flow cat back exhaust system.  Which would bump mine up to probably 195hp.  The other mods such as a short shifter, and limited slip diff would help as well.

On the negative side my car is 17 years old and dispite my fanatical maintenance routine I'm pretty sure it's not making as much hp as it did back in the day.

On the track I think he could take me... although my car handles really well, its suspension is just not as advanced as the suspensions they make today.

What you got Karol?  Think you could take me?

Secret Street is every friday night, one night we can go down there and go head to head on the 1/4 if you want. We can even invite mike. All you need is a helmet and valid insurance/drivers. If cornering is what you want we can go to a SOLO event. I havnt really done much to the engine, only the tranny. Im more focusing on the "looks" factor for this year. Since the car is under warrenty I dont want to be putting any T4's in there yet. Ya but if you are free one friday night we should head off to race city!!

oh yes - Im not sure about your specs from what i found its

1989 BMW 325i

2.5L 168 hp I6- 168 @ 5500 RPM

I've always wanted to do something like a autocross solo event,  I'm far more interested in track skills than strait line speed.  Do you have any info for Calgary events and what is required?

Humm, hard to know on the specs... my car is so old that most of the info on the net is probably unreliable.  I think the specs you found seem to be from a 325e.  I know those had more torque than the 325i but less horsepower.  Who knows!
Whatever the specs my guess is that with the positive mods and the negative degradation I probably am at about 180-185hp.

Karol if you're gonna mod the engine do the chip first, it was by far the most noticeable upgrade I made.  And as far as handling I haven't done much, springs and shocks are next on my list.  I am however amazed what difference a good set of rims and rubber make.  I have some Continental contisportcontacts on my car right now and they grip better than any tire I've ever had.

I haven't done much to the exterior, my car is pretty old and the paint is starting to go in a few spots so I figure I'd make it more of a sleeper.  The only things I've done is put in a blacked out grill, and bought some euro ellipsoid headlights.  How much lighter is your carbon fiber hood than the original?

If the chip doesnt work you can put a snorkel on it for the cold air intake with a k/n filter. I personally think a good throttle body and ceramic headers add a little something. As well as cutting out the cat and straigh piping the exhaust back.  Then when that isnt quite enough you get a 4.0l stroked and bored and  upgrade engine internals with parts from bigger motors!

http://www.racecity.com/racing.php?n=24

hood weighs 14lb , stock is 34 lb.

Ya the chip for my car is called a piggy back, its basically another computer that rides the original. hear good things about it, but its expensive and you have to use premium gas after installing it. $$$$$$

I like the snorkel idea, im thinking I should just cut a hole in the fender and run it through there. Will PVC piping look ok? or should I use empty paper towel rolls? I think my next mod will be a Massive double decker wing yo!!! booya!!! thats like what....at least 50 ft lb, and 50 hp.....to the wheels yo.
