Unions! I fucking hate Unions! What a load of rubbish they are! Sure they were good back in the 1800's or in 3rd world countries before things such as labor laws, but now all they do is make companies pay exorbitant wages to people that don't deserve to be making that much money. For example, take a look at how much bus drivers make... I'm sure there are a ton of people out there that would get their license and do the same job for 3/4 of the wage. All unions do now is drive up prices that consumers will have to pay for goods and services.
This summer I had to become part of the evil empire for my job at EPCOR since I was classified as a temp employee. That 20 bucks off of every paycheque for union dues drives me fucking crazy!! They do shit all for me... in fact they probably do worse than shit all... being part of the union probably limited what they could pay me as a temp employee because the union has a common pay scale for most of it's workers. Be it me (a summer student in regulatory affairs with an economics degree) or some random high school dropout jerk who digs ditches.
Good thing when I move to permanent here at EPCOR I will no longer be part of this useless union. Then I can direct my energy to finding ways for EPCOR to rid itself of the rotting vestigial appendage otherwise know and CSU Local 52.
