What can you hear?
« on: February 01, 2007, 02:45:50 AM »
I don't know if you guys have heard about those ultrasonic ringtones that only teens can hear but here is a neat test to see how high your hearing range goes.  Listen to the tones and see which one is the highest you can actually hear... and you gotta be able to actually hear the tone and not just the click from your speakers at the start and end of the clip.

The last one I could hear was the 14.1khz... pretty bad I'm guessing.

Post what you level get up to.

And here is a high quality wav file that contains a ring tone... I can't hear a damm thing from this.  Can you?

I heard 21.1kHz, but very faintly, so I'm going to say 19.9kHz.

I can also hear that other tone clearly.

Crazy!  I really am deaf then...

I should sue Ceili's for wrecking my hearing by letting the DJ's play so god damm loud all the time.

Yeah, I was just going to say that you're a youngin' so your ears haven't been abused as much as ours have.

I'm interested to see how Bob does on this. I don't imagine he will do much better than you Shad.

Crazy I made it to 21.1.  It was only the last one I couldn't hear.  Don't get me to do a vision test though.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some death to defy.

Maybe herpes is one of those crazy diseases that debilitates one aspect of your life but gives you ultra sensitive hearing...?

It's that syphillis that makes you go blind.  Dodged that bullet very narrowly.
