Anyone know how to ungayify a computer?
« on: December 22, 2006, 05:36:02 PM »
Alright, I can connect to MSN, I can connect to Subspace and various games. I cannot connect to any websites. Right now I'm lucking out with Internet Explorer, though I usually use Firefox, which seems to be oh so chock-full of douchebag. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I've fooled around with the firewall, I've kicked my router numerous times, stabbed at the cable box at least 3 dozen times, and no go. Or sometimes it will connect to a site, then die after about 20 seconds. I called the tech support, but, being this is Canada, none of them speak english. Suggestions?

I would say kicking and stabbing your computer/router/cable box is not helping, and making the situation worse.

I suggest talking to Bob. He fixed mine after I riddled it with viruses and it would no longer boot. Although, he currently does not have a desk, and his computer is in a pile on the floor. Plus he hasn't even started Christmas shopping, and his basement is in a million pieces.... maybe try after Christmas.

So you can connect to the internet as long as you aren't using a browser of some type? As in Explorer and Firefox, but other progams like MSN and Subspace have no problems??? that's the jist of it?

Have you tried re-installing firefox or exlporer. If other programs are working and letting you connect, and stay connected to the internet, then it seems like the problem is with your browsers/computer and not your ISP. I did have trouble with FireFox when they updated their browser, there were some problems with my old plug-ins that were really buggy....

Have you tried a virus scan?

I'm out of ideas, good luck!

Those Hindus love being harassed.  Tell them you are eating a steak or hamburger next time you call.  They like that.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some death to defy.

I give you people gold and nothing for near a month.  I'm going to start charging for my awesomeness at this rate.  Then we'll see who misses it.
