Open Chat / Shad's Scary Haircut Story
« on: May 25, 2006, 10:56:36 PM »
Ok... I always tell myself not to go to those cheap places to get my hair cut, I almost always go somewhere pretty nice.  Every time I do go cheap I always get butchered.

Well today was no exception...

I really needed a haircut so I started driving to one of the nicer parts of Edmonton (because all the places around here were called names like Wong's Salon or Barb's Haircutters.  Forget that!  Anyways I found a place that looked allright except for the mullet wearing bum outside the door (not that rare in Edmonton... even in the nicer parts).

I walk in... Looks ok... except nobody's in there.  Then the guy who I thought was a bum walks in and points me to his chair.  Yikes!  That was the first sign that I should have left.

Against better judgment I sit down, and the guy goes to get the cape thing.  As he walks by I get a strong whiff of cheap booze and cigarettes.  That wasn't the worst of it, as he puts the cape on me I notice his hands are shaking like crazy... he was definitely going through withdrawl from some hard drugs.  That was the second sign that I should have left.

So lets recap, I got my hair cut by some sweaty drunken bastard that had a long greasy MULLET and was going through some serious withdrawl!  Anyways my haircut was all uneven and choppy and shit, it looked worse then when Neal, Jeff and Jim tried to cut it while we were fighting that time at the party!  I think that I really might have just gotten my haircut by some street bum...…maybe the owners were tied up in the back??

But in the end it turned out not to be unfixable... except for my side burns... he cut them like completely off… like who does that!  Anyways, I went and found a nice expensive place to get it fixed right after.  But I took this pic of my missing sideburns when I got home.   Hopefully they grow back soon.

Moral of the story, don't cheap out on haircuts!

Open Chat / What is up with Edmonton?
« on: May 14, 2006, 12:12:17 AM »
Ok, first off, I have to say I am trying to cheer for Edmonton now that Calgary is out of the playoffs, but this city makes it so damm hard to like it.

They have no original ideas... car flags are everywhere like 2 years ago in Calgary.  And now they're now referring to White Avenue as the "Blue Mile"... come on... That's seriously so lame!  And I think the only reason people are going down there is because Calgary had a big party street two years ago and Edmonton wants to show everyone how cool they are.

Plus there is no city spirit here, last night on the "Blue Mile" there were 13 stabbings and 49 arrests.  Yes 13!  Like seriously what the fuck!

Sigh... I miss Calgary.

Jokes / Jokes about your profession
« on: April 27, 2006, 01:26:12 AM »
Here's some economics jokes.  I look forward to hearing Andrew's law jokes, Neal's engineering jokes, and jokes about the rest of your professions.

----------------------------------------------------------

An economist is someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Economists are people who are too smart for their own good and not smart enough for anyone else's.

“I'd rather be vaguely right than precisely wrong."
- J.M. Keynes

Economics is extremely useful… as a form of employment for economists.

An economist is an expert who will know tomorrow why the things he predicted yesterday didn't happen today.
- Laurence J. Peter

If you put two economists in a room, you get two opinions, unless one of them is Lord Keynes, in which case you get three opinions.
- Winston Churchill

An economist is someone who doesn't know what he's talking about - and make you feel it's your fault

Q: Why did God create economists?
A: In order to make weather forecasters look good.

Economics is the only field in which two people can receive a Nobel Prize for saying exactly the opposite thing.

Three economists went out hunting and came across a large deer.  The first economist fired but missed by a yard to the left.  The second economist fired, but also missed by a yard to right.  The third economist didn't fire, but shouted in triumph, "We got it!  We got it!"

Economic forecasting is like trying to drive a car blindfolded and following directions given by a person who is looking out of the back window

Economics is the painful elaboration of the obvious.

An economist is someone who gets rich explaining others why they are poor.

An economist is a trained professional paid to guess wrong about the economy. An econometrician is a trained professional paid to use computers to guess wrong about the economy.

Jokes / George W Bush Jokes
« on: April 19, 2006, 12:51:32 AM »
George Bush was meeting with Rumsfeld and Cheney and they told him "Three Brazilian soldiers died in Iraq today". And Bush put his head in his hands and wept. Cheney and Rummy were surprised at this show of emotion. Finally, Bush looked up and said "How many is a Brazilian... more than a billion?"

Allright, most of the time I'm on my computer I obsessively check a select few websites.  I need some new places to entertain me.  This thread is to post about the sites that you visit everyday.

Remember... only sites that you visit on a regular basis, no amusing ones that you never visit again allowed!  I look forward to finding some new places to waste time at.

Here are mine:

Open Chat / Coming Home on Friday
« on: March 21, 2006, 10:00:33 PM »
Hey,

Just got some good news.  I have a job interview in Calgary on friday so I'll be home... well, on Friday.  It's for a risk analyst position at Cargill Natural Gas.  Wish me luck!

So what are the plans for Friday night?  Depending on how the interview goes I may have something to celebrate or be needing to drown my sorrows.  Either way there should be drinking involved!

Open Chat / Workers Comp
« on: March 20, 2006, 11:11:31 PM »
Awoke and saw this in the morning... I just had to take a pic of it.

New snowpants $87
Ergonomic shovel $43
Fancy red scarf $15
Falling off an icy three story high roof while shoveling snow and collecting a big fat workers comp cheque for the rest of your life... Priceless
